Information

Maxim’s Bangkok, which was launched just a couple months ago, is brand’s the first outlet in Southeast Asia. The venue is presented in a more relaxed fashion — a trendy bistro occupying a large, glass-wrapped space on the second floor of Groove@CentralWorld. Behind a takeaway corner displaying a mouthwatering variety of Maxim’s much-loved pasties is tucked an unfussy dining area, with an al fresco terrace overlooking the boisterous downtown street. The bistro’s setting blends art nouveau with the cosmopolitan, and well exhibits “la joie de vivre”, which is one of the brand’s philosophies. At this young stage, the bistro offers a rather small, yet sensibly crafted collection of classic French fare, as well as signature creations by Chef Lionel Vinatier, the restaurant’s French head chef, who ensures his Bangkok clients experience as high a Gallic gastronomic pleasure as those in Paris. Desserts, a creation of Sebastien Gaudard, who was named Paris’s best pastry chef of 2012 by food critic Gilles Pudlowski, were far beyond my expectation. During our visit, choices of beverages were limited to tea (Mariage Frères), coffee and freshly blended juices. Service was fine.
