Siam City Hotel is hosting the "Siam Days of Glory" exhibition featuring a collection of photographs from the book Siam Days of Glory: 19th Century Photographs of Thailand by Athada Khoman, in the hotel's lobby from Oct 16-31.
HRH Princess Soamsawali will preside over the opening of the exhibition and also the book launch on Oct 16 at 1pm. They will be followed by a public seminar featuring Bhujjong Chandavij, Anake Nawigamune and Juthatip Angsusing, with Dr Apichart Intravisit as an MC from 3-4:30pm. They will be discussing the role of photography in history.
The exhibition and book feature a collection of privately-owned rare and original images of Siam in the 19th century. The photographs contain important images of the royal family, ceremonies, temples, palaces, fashions, transportation, the Chao Phraya, scenes of daily life and the ethnic diversity found in the Kingdom at that time.
The book is to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of HM King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V). The photos on show are all originals from private collections which highlight the fabulous epoch in Siam's history.
