To mark Her Majesty's 80th birthday, the Thai Red Cross Society and the Thai Artists '96 Group are organising a showcase of paintings at the Montien Hotel entitled "Our Respected and Beloved Queen".
HRH Princess Soamsawali will preside over the official opening at 2pm on Friday. More than 500 paintings will be on display, including two by the Princess herself.
A host of amateur and professional artists, both local and foreign, have contributed work, with genres ranging from abstract paintings and landscapes to depictions of flowers and animals. Set on the Montien's mezzanine floor, the exhibition will run until September 2. Every weekend the hotel will also be hosting demonstrations of watercolour, oil, portrait and flower painting techniques featuring well-known artists such as Samarn Klangchaturas, Apichat Chuthong, Apichai Karikarn, Navin Sangrop, Suwit Witthayachak and Suchin Pansamuth.
