Gate Crasher

Welcome to Guru 's Gate Crasher, your ultimate guide to finding something fresh to do in this big city.

There's some good variety this weekend, in terms of extra curricular options, proving that fun can be had in the daylight hours too; if it stops raining, that is.

SURF EVENT

In what is definitely Bangkok's first surf carnival, Flow Tour Asia 2012 will be held on Sat (Sep 29). There's no question about the swell either, since the venue is of course Flow House (Sukhumvit Soi 26), the city's new artificial wave down near K-Village. Still, we could all use more hobbies, so get down there and get on the wave, or show support from the bar, which neatly serves Sapporo beer. There are five divisions of competition - women's, junior (under 16), master (over 30), and body-board. Prizes include a chance to represent Thailand at the finals in Singapore, and various vouchers. Entry is B700, includes a T-shirt, dinner, and drink. There will also be a fashion show and DJs, apparently, so might be a decent afternoon out. Especially if the sun shines.
