In the award-winning Filipino movie Nino, Celia faces falling status, a failing marriage and mounting debt, all with her past as an opera darling haunting her. It is the story of a family whose members look out for their own interests rather than each other when under threat of homelessness.
Nino will be screened at the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre (BACC) and Films Forum on Saturday evening as part of the "Cinema Diverse" series which films from different countries each month.
Lead actress Fides Cuyugan-Asensio and director Loy Arcenas, who has had success as a set designer on Broadway shows while directing films in his native Philippines, will be there.
