The indie festival that defined a generation of 'hipsters' has staged its swansong

Over the past weekend, Fat Festival, Thailand's longest running annual music festival, finally took a bow after 12 long years.

"Everything has its life cycle, and it's impossible to remain at the peak forever, so we are quitting while we're still ahead. Fat Festival was never meant to be permanent. Twelve years ago, we just wanted to see if our listeners really existed, so we decided to stage a festival to prove that, and we've done that over the years," said Pongnarin Ulid, Fat Radio's station director.
