Where tradition meets modern art

Bangkok Art and Culture Centre presents "Siam App: Application-appreciate-apply" which portrays the value and beauty of work by 50 new-generation Thai artists who are inspired by Buddhism and local culture.

The showcase of Buddhist and folk art also provides knowledge about the history and development of those styles in Thailand, the techniques and procedures used, and how ancient methods influence modern work. There will also be artist demonstrations.

Several contemporary artists featured in the exhibition integrate traditional forms and techniques with a modern twist, and focus on Buddhist content and local culture according to their beliefs and imagination. The show reflects the taste, philosophy and personality of a group of Thai artists who were born and grew up under a rural or traditional context.
