Unashamed desires

Jirapat Tatsanasomboon, one of Thailand's leading artists whose works display interactions between Thai and Western culture, marks a new phase in with his exhibition "The Desires of Nonthok".

The Desires of Nonthok will be on show at Thavibu Gallery from Feb 2 to March 2. A private viewing will be held on Feb 2 at 5pm. The gallery is located at Silom Galleria on Silom Road and opens daily except Sundays from11amto 7pm. Call 02-266-5454.

Presented by Thavibu Gallery, the new series of intercultural paintings shows the artist has become more political than ever. Jirapat has reinterpreted the story of Nonthok, from the national epic Ramakien, and brought such issues as class, integrity and abuse of power to the forefront. The series is not only relevant to the continuing political crisis in Thailand, but also has universal themes.
