To commemorate the generosity of the late Princess Mother on the occasion of her birthday anniversary on Oct 21, Siam Piwat and Mae Fah Luang Foundation present the 17th "Kidtueng Somdetya" exhibition, which runs at the Grand Hall, 1st floor of Siam Discovery, between Oct 17 and 23.
The 17th ‘Kidtueng Somdetya’ exhibition will be held at Siam Discovery from Oct 17 to 23.
The event is also in celebration of His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand's 100th birthday.
The theme "Royal Faith" reflects the deeply religious behaviour of the late Princess Mother, who studied Buddhist teachings and practiced dhamma, thus setting herself as an example for everyone who wanted to follow the Buddha's path.
She also promoted dhamma education and practice. She initiated a variety of religious activities, including occasional teachings, the "Mind Management" dhamma talk programme on Dusit Palace radio, and the publication of books to give away to civil servants and the public. In 1960 she invited His Holiness, who was back then in the rank of Dhamma Varaporn, to deliver a talk and write books.
The exhibition is divided into three zones to display her routine and interest in religion and philosophy.
The "Royal Faith" zone exhibits books published under her initiative, and the "Arts... Reasons" zone features photos and ceramic replicas of Buddha images created by the Princess Mother herself, as well as ceramic plates that display her own drawings.
The "Wisdom + Knowledge must be used in the right way" zone, meanwhile, displays Dhamma Collection, which comprises her letters and materials related to the publication of this book. The collection features many dhamma topics with accompanying explanations, which are concise and easy to understand.
A variety of products from Mae Fah Luang Foundation will also be available for sale at the exhibition.
