The Heavy Selection, a premium multi-label store, will present a screening of Kapital World, a documentary directed by Hsiang Chin “Bunny” Moe, on Aug 8.

Filming of the one-hour documentary.

The movie reveals the unique universe created by Japanese denim brand Kapital’s lead designer and photographer Eric Kvatek.

The documentary is set behind the scenes of one of their photo shoots, when Kiro and Eric meet up in France to shoot the spring 2014 Kapital book, Sailor Ninja. Old friends return and new friends are made over a five-day shoot in Paris, Souesmes and Cassis.

In Paris, the Kapital crew focuses on bohemian styles and French ninjas. Slightly more familiar hunting themes are played with in the French countryside, but, of course, with a Kapital twist. Finally, the entire production crew travels by train to the South of France for a nautical-themed excursion.

Through the behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of a Kapital photo shoot, the special nature of the 15-year-long friendship of Kiro and Eric is revealed.

Hsiang Chin Moe is a New York-based artist who is drawn to subtle and moving stories of humanity. For this Kapital World documentary she was allowed a unique opportunity and total access to the fashion shoot in France and complete artistic control over the resulting film.

She has exhibited her video/documentary, interactive performance and photography in New York, Philadelphia, Taipei and Tokyo.

Kapital World will be screened at Heavy Selection and Caffe What If on Sukhumvit Soi 31 at 7pm. Eric Kvatek will also join the event and afterparty.
