Helena Rubinstein, a renowned business lady in the cosmetics world, had a favourite saying: "Don't put anything on your face you would not put in your mouth". Sounds pretty doable, but is it? Well, you wouldn't gobble down a whole bottle of lotion now would you? Thankfully, her words were not meant to be taken so literally. What she's really saying is that the key ingredients of any product you decide to use should be something that is also kind to both the inside and outside of your body.
And that is exactly the case for coconut oil, the health food that improves your health and beauty. Coconut has long been known as the "virgin" food, and coconut water is claimed as being "pure water", as it has never been exposed to anything until the coconut shell is cracked open. Its sweet and slightly fatty taste is loved by many, but it's the health benefits of its oil, extracted from the coconut meat, that wow scientists worldwide.
When consumed orally, coconut oil, which contains much denser medium-chain fatty acid and lauric acid, promotes excellent health and helps speed up your metabolism (in short, coconut oil equals weight loss!). This is why a lot of people are opting to cook their meals using coconut oil or take a few spoonfuls of it prior to each meal or workout. It also helps you feel fuller longer since coconut oil helps slow down digestion.
