SPOTLIGHT
On a recent trip to the newly opened Retreat on Vitayu, I realised that when you reach a certain age in life you learn that simplicity and sincerity are of the essence. Although spas and philosophy don't immediately seem to be related, they combine well at the four-month-old establishment where I discovered authentic treatments, skilled staff and amicable ambience.
Retreat on Vitayu flaunts a homey atmosphere echoing clean off-white furnishings and wooden elements with green touches to help you unwind. The 13-room sanctuary features custom-made treatment beds. There's also a room for a group of three.
Due to my demanding conditions - muscular tension, serious stiffness and a preference for particularly deep and firm massage pressure - I was recommended a Traditional Thai Herbal Compress Massage (B950/two hours). For this treatment, there is an extra charge of B250 for two compress balls that can be use up to four times within two months if you come back for more.
