Butter holds beauty secrets

A widely-used cosmetic ingredient, shea butter now takes the leading role in L'Occitane's latest skincare range. Rich in vitamin A, E and fatty acids, the natural ingredient has been used to protect the skin against wind and environmental damage and women in West Africa know well of its beauty secret.

L'Occitane's new collection contains shea butter sourced from a sustainable joint-development programme with the women of Birkina Faso, a landlocked country in West Africa. Collecting shea nuts and producing shea butter to provide their livelihood, over 12,000 women are involved in this programme that turns out 380 tonnes of this ingredient for the production of L'Occitane's products.
