At 75, Assoc Prof Srisakara Vallibhothama, a noted anthropologist and archaeologist who received the 2007 Fukuoka Prize for work on cultural promotion, still visits ancient sites and old communities.
His most recent excursion, part of a project for Thailand Research Fund, was to Ban Pha Daeng, in tambon Sa-iab of Phrae province, a two-century-old community designated to be completely flooded if the government realises its dam projects _ including the long disputed Kaeng Sua Ten Dam on the Yom River.
With 12 published books on history and culture, plus numerous articles, Assoc Prof Srisakara is an avid reader and prolific essayist. He shares his reading lists with Life. — Anchalee Kongrut
