Santiphap Petchwao, or Chef Por, has more than 10 years' experience in Thai cuisine, specialising not only in authentic Thai food but also contemporary Thai culinary styles. He is also a whiz in banana leaf crafting, fruit carving and Thai desserts.
Por holds a certificate in Thai-Western cuisine from Dusit Thani College, but he inherited his culinary skills from his grandmother, who taught him many of her secrets since he was a child. He has also spent many years working in five-star hotels, and teaches Thai cooking in many hotels both here and overseas.
He now works at the Suan Bua restaurant at the Sofitel Centara Grand, Bangkok. His aim is to upgrade Thai cuisine to international standards and promote the country's dishes to the world, while maintaining authenticity.
