Thais are sanook people. We like to have fun and don’t take things too seriously. Although we here at Guru all enjoy off-colour jokes every now and then, there’s a fine line between making light of someone or something and getting a laugh, or doing the same but drawing a big “boo”. This week, we examine five of the most controversial flippant actions that took place in Thailand. Judge for yourself whether they went too far. 

What shouldn’t be made light of: The mysterious Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 that had its last contact with air traffic control on Mar 8. At the time of writing, people around the world are praying for the 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board whose fates are still unknown.

Who did it anyway: A local game company called Winner Online became a big loser last week for posting a video to promote their game with an overly-light-hearted reference to the aeroplane.
