Ever wondered what that bright blue track by Suvarnabhumi Airport is for? Why, it's the only unobstructed bike track that's (sort of) in Bangkok, of course.

We've been there to get first-hand experience of what it's like to bike at Sky Lane. And here's all you need to know.

1. There are two loops to choose from: the short one is 1.6km in distance and the long one is 23.5km.

Yes, we know it's a bit of a gap between the two so you might as well just go for the big loop. If we're going to wake up at 4:30am for something, it certainly isn't going to be a ten-minute-cycle followed by an hour driving back home.

2. Rest stops with bathrooms are provided along the way and if you really can't make it to the finish line, you can call for assistance and get picked up by a truck.

It's a nice assurance in case you were thinking you'd have to walk your bike back for the rest of the loop.

3. If you're not a morning person and you'd rather cycle in the evening, Sky Lane is open until 6pm daily and the track is fitted with LED lights.

That's a big ha-ha to all you "I'm-not-a-morning-person" out there.

4. Don't forget to bring your ID so that you can get your own electronic snap-on wristband. This can be used for payment and also for entering and leaving the park.

Super convenient so you don't need to carry your wallet around to pay for drinks and food.

5. Cameras, GoPro and headphones are permitted for use inside the park.

So set your music and get your timing on point, you might just end up peddling to Eye of the Tiger while a Thai Airways plane makes its landing right in front of you.

6. Currently there's no rental service (rumour has it that there will be one in the near future) so as of right now, you'll need to bring your own bike and gear. The good news is that virtually any type of bike is welcome.

Whether it's a road bike, a mountain bike, a foldable bike, a hybrid -- heck we've even seen a tandem (two-seater) -- as long as you can bring 'em, you can ride 'em.

Sky Lane is open daily from 6am-6pm and is located at Thanon Suvarnabhumi 3, Tambon Nong Prue. For more information, visit skylanethailand.com or call 02-132-4000.
