Once primarily functional, these earthenware pots are now serving a more decorative purpose

The jar has been an integral part of our way of life for centuries, and is still important today, albeit for different reasons.

Hundreds of years ago, the jar functioned as a water container, indispensable to all households, especially during the dry season. Smaller jars were also used for offers of nam jai (generosity).

Traditionally, a wooden dipper and a small earthen jar full of water were placed in front of the house so passers-by could take a brief rest and quench their thirst.
