Canadian author finds ample fodder for his books in Thailand

Christopher G. Moore has spent 20 years immersed in the darker sides of Bangkok and Southeast Asia. Over an authorial career spanning 22 novels _ primarily concerned with the region's criminal underbelly _ and several works of non-fiction, he has gradually gained a cult-like following. His books have been translated into 10 languages, with plans for more.

Although from Canada, Moore has yet to receive major recognition on his home turf _ North America. That may be about to change. The advent of e-books has made it much easier for readers all over the world to be exposed to his work.

Meanwhile, a Hollywood production company is in the early stages of adapting his Vincent Calvino series of novels, which follow an American detective based in Bangkok, to the big screen. While it's too early to know if it will ever see the screen, the potential exposure for Moore is massive.

This is an interesting interview. Perhaps others, particularly writers, will find it so, since it does briefly introduce Chris' works generally *and* speaks of the plight of the writer.

Full disclosure: I've known Chris something like 16 years, so I'm not the most objective person around to comment on an article like this. I like him, and am a great fan of his writing.
