Spirits of a very different kind are afoot in the Land of Smiles

Hearty congratulations to Somtow Sucharitkul for creating, and staging, an opera last Monday and Tuesday at the Chalermkrung Royal Theatre.

Yes, that's right, I said opera. Who would have thought your weekly correspondent would have his finger on the operatic pulse? But indeed you would be surprised where my fingers find themselves at times.

In between my iPod playlists based on musical eras ('70s disco, Andrews Sisters et al, acid house) and moods (Alone Late at Night, Songs to Alleviate Despair) I do have my orchestral music and operatic playlists.
