Stopping a Suicide

The urge to end one's life can be overwhelming, but support from family and friends can make a real difference

In the small hours of the morning, Gift woke up to open her restaurant. Everything went smoothly until 2pm, when she got a text message from her husband, saying: "I love you, honey. I'm so sorry."

She called him back right away and whether he was all right. She asked him to come to the restaurant, but he said nothing.

"That worried me," Gift recalled. "He later replied: 'I want to kill myself.' So, I urged him to come and see me at the restaurant."
