German fest for charity

The Year of the Dragon marks the 150th anniversary of Thai-German diplomatic relations and the "Fest der Deutschen 2011" gala dinner charity event will be the first activity to kick-start this auspicious occasion.

It was during the reign of King Rama IV in 1862 when Thai-German diplomatic relations were officially established with regards to friendship, economic ties and navigation activities between Siam and Prussia, known today as Thailand and the Federal Republic of Germany, respectively. The telegraph and railway were also pioneered by German merchants and experts.
