Our Thai big brother
Mapping the mass media's mind control techniques
Us Thais have it sorted. The system is working perfectly, there are no social issues of any real note and som tam is more delicious than ever! So how do we do it? How does a super city like Bangkok function so smoothly? Is it due to our impeccable manners? Our low sugar diet? And how come we are the only country in Asia to not have been colonized or affected in any way by the West?
Maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with the kind folks hanging out in the government. They take great pains for the benefit of Thailand. They check all forms of media to ensure that our culture isn't threatened in any way by ideas, images, shows and events that do not represent Thainess.
The latest exposure to global culture they have potentially saved us from is Twitter. Following the draconian tendencies of the lese majeste laws, the government has welcomed the new Twitter policy of imposing censorship on a country by country scenario, shrinking our brains a little more.
