Meet the man charged with easing the passage of Thai firms into the Asean common market

The Asean Economic Community (AEC) envisaged for Southeast Asia starting 2015 will transform the entire region into a single, highly competitive market and production base.
As such the onus of Thailand's successful integration into the AEC and its 600 million consumers will fall primarily in the hands of Pasu Loharjun, director-general of the Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) under the Ministry of Industry.
"The AEC is both an opportunity and a challenge for our SMEs to embrace. Some view it as a threat which is why we must be prepared. The AEC will change the climate surrounding many economic and trade issues, which is why the DIP has developed a unique road map to give direction and present
