Keeping well-grounded

Patana Prompat carries on the family's business and perhaps the political baton of his father in the future

First impressions indicate that Patana Prompat appears to be walking a thin line between being naive and appearing well-grounded as a scion of a powerful politician.

"Life hasn't changed much. I don't have bodyguards following me around. I enjoy noodles and chicken with rice. Naturally I am aware of who my father is, but I am definitely not hard core or naughty," said the 28-year-old, who is busy honing his resume by selling his family's real estate project in the Pratunam area.

The youngest child of Social Development and Human Security minister Santi Prompat recalled that upon graduating from high school that a nine-month language course in San Bernadino, California was what he wanted. "Actually, I didn't forward my entrance exam scores in time," said Patana, who eventually studied finance at Chulalongkorn University with a second-class honours.
