Normally, an average of 30 customers per day would come to Benefit Brow Bars in Hong Kong for professional brow grooming. On April 21, the number of customers quadrupled to 132 for a world record-breaking event that involved nine other eyebrow bars around the world. A total of 2,570 pairs of eyebrows were waxed in a 24-hour period, earning a Guinness World Record.
"The world record affirms that Benefit is the brow authority, especially here in Asia, where waxing is a relatively new approach compared to tweezing and threading," said Wing Man Wu, the brand's international trainer and one of the 10 Hong Kong brow experts participating in the event.
"It's quick, it's easy, it's fun," she said of brow waxing as the preferred method in removing unruly hair, which takes around 10 minutes. In addition, no appointment is needed as the brow bars welcome walk-in customers.
