From a giant pineapple you could walk inside of, to deities of building-like proportions, there is an obsession with size that spans the world and offends the eyes

Back in the 1970s when I was a little boy, we had a tourist attraction not far from home called the Big Pineapple.
How tragic. How could modern civilisation think to build such a thing and think it would be popular?
I am reminded of the immortal words of PT Barnum, who claimed there was a sucker born every minute. The Big Pineapple was a monstrosity, yes _ but it was also a big hit.
