Noise music has long been used to broaden sound as an artistic medium and challenge us to appreciate more complex compositions. In Japan, where the art of noise has long been established, Atsuhiro Ito stumbled across it by accident when he discovered a fluorescent light creating a reaction with a radio. The relationship between light and sound formed a rhythm that stirred his interest.
Ito will perform with his home-made instrument called an "optron" which produces noises from the electrical discharge of a fluorescent light. The music played on an optron is a repetition of intense flickers of light and noises and it stimulates and attacks our visual and auditory senses.
