Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands stands near a work entitled De Majesteit (The Majesty) by artist Elly Hendrix during a visit she made recently to the "Beeld van Beatrix" (Images of Beatrix) exhibition at Het Loo Palace in Apeldoorn, a town about 100km southeast of Amsterdam. Portraits of the Dutch queen, made on the occasion of her 75th birthday on Jan 31, will be on display there until May 20. She is due to relinquish the crown at the end of April after 33 years on the throne, abdicating in favour of her son, Prince Willem-Alexander.
