If there is one similarity between being a sportsman and hotelier, for Wim Fagel it is the need for both to perform to the best of their capabilities.
Currently the general manager at Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok, he is a former national baseball and softball player for the Netherlands.
The expat says the need for specialised training to achieve ones goals is also important. "Playing sports has made me a goal-oriented person," said Fagel. "I used to play baseball and softball at national level, but also found time to work in the hospitality business in my free time. When it was difficult to juggle the two successfully, I chose working in hotels over sports.
