Not many women make it to the top in the watch industry, but in June Ellen Sorenson became one of the few following her appointment as Vacheron Constantin's Southeast Asia managing director.
It's quite fitting for a lady to be at the helm of such a luxury brand because the company's business strategy now focuses on attracting female watch lovers.
"There's a greater awareness of the difference between quartz and mechanical movements. Thus the preference is shifting from quartz to mechanical watches that women buy for themselves, and we need to do more to cater for women," said Sorenson, whose career advancement required her to relocate from New York to Singapore.
