But doctors are not discussing the cute cartoon character; GARFIELD refers to Global Anticoagulant Registry in the Field _ large-scale research conducted around the world coordinated by the UK-based Thrombosis Research Institute (TRI). 

Blood clots can be lethal roadblocks when the obstruction occurs in an artery or a vein.

The megaproject aims to better understand the burden and clinical management of thrombosis, the medical term for blood clot formation.
