Silom Road became a mix of carnivalesque colours and entranced worshipping on Monday night during the Vijaya Dasmi procession, celebrated by thousands of worshippers near the Hindu temple Wat Khaek. Scenes of Hindu priests piercing themselves with sharp metal objects and devotees transported into a trance _ like this woman _ transform the bustling financial district once a year. A Hindu rite, the procession has seen an increasing number of Thai disciples joining the parade each year.
