At 80, Milos Forman already sports two of the DGA's best director awards, for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and Amadeus (1984).

"No matter what subject or genre he tackles, Milos finds the universality of the human experience in every story, allowing us -- his rapt audience -- to recognize ourselves within the struggle for free expression and self-determination that Milos so aptly portrays on the silver screen," comments Taylor Hackford, the president of the DGA.

Milos Forman will receive his award on February 2, during the 65th edition of the DGA Awards. Last year's winner of the Outstanding Director of the Year award was Michel Hazanavicius for The Artist.
