Up to 73 million sharks are killed each year to meet the demand for shark fin soup and now global shark populations are in catastrophic decline. Recently environmental groups, celebrities, students, prominent chefs and businesses took to the streets to mark a "Fin Free" campaign, accompanied by an exhibition "100% Shark: Photography and Information Exhibition" at WTF Cafe.

The campaign is part of a global initiative to encourage businesses to ban shark fin and advise consumers to refrain from eating it. The movement draws attention to not only the environmental impacts but also the severe health risks associated with consumption. According to the World Health Organisation, shark fin soup contains dangerous levels of mercury and ingestion has been linked to numerous health problems, including complications with reproductive organs and foetal development.
