Bear is back!

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

World-renowned survival extraordinaire Bear Grylls returns in the brand new Bear Grylls: Escape From Hell. In this new TV series he will apply his expertise by pitting himself against dangers faced by ordinary people stranded in dire real-life situations in the world's most desolate landscapes.

Including incredible archive footage and interviews with survivors _ including a British scientist who got lost while alone in the jungles of Malaysia _ Bear will show how these everyday people survived by attempting to recreate and relive their experiences.

Throughout the gripping six-part series, Bear risks his life by trekking in the shoes of these amateur adventurers across the most inhospitable locations on Earth and through the harshest weather, dissecting and analysing the survival techniques they employed and providing expert advice and tips on what could have been done to elude or alleviate the severity of the circumstances.

From a plane crash in the Amazon and remote crevasses of the European alps, to a scorching North African desert, and more, Bear will throw himself into the same unforgiving landscapes where these incidents took place and attempt to live, sleep, survive and navigate to safety.

Along the way, he demonstrates life-saving skills that can be easily executed by inexperienced adventurers, including drinking the blood of a snake for hydration in the desert, minimising the loss of a mobile-phone battery by warming it underneath the armpits, hunting tarantulas in the jungle for caloric intake, creating a tepee from tree branches, and fighting off frostbite by creating improvised hot water bottles with zip-lock bags and urine, amongst others.

Bear Grylls: Escape From Hell premieres today at 8pm and repeats every Friday at 2pm, Saturday at 5pm and 9pm and Sunday at 2pm and 4pm on TrueVisions 19.
