Llao Llao finally arrives in Bangkok and it's ridiculously good

Living in a city like Bangkok is a wonderful thing. Not only does the City of Angels bestow the divine gift of sweltering temperatures that result in constant sweat patches but she also allows the perfect opportunity for ice-cream and frozen treats-makers to try out their markets. After all, it's not like we're craving a hot bowl of soup whilst walking around in this sort of heat.

Following the never-ending frozen dessert trend, Llao Llao is the latest frozen yoghurt brand to join the bandwagon. Sure, it's location is a bit strange. Right in front of Platinum Fashion Mall which, OK, I know you might be thinking, "It's just a hassle to get there", is actually easily accessible via the new skywalk that links to Central World.

Only its original flavour is available (unlike Pinkberry where you get various ones ranging from chocolate hazelnut to pomegranate), but we didn't mind because we loved it. It's creamy and not so heavy on the tartness or sweetness. The consistency is superb and didn't melt quickly at all even when we ate it outside the store. What won us over though was the selection of toppings; especially the non-fruit variety (obvs), like mini cookies, white chocolate biscuits, colourful chocolate candy and caramelised sunflower seeds. You can choose various sauces to drizzle over your froyo, from passion fruit to chocolatey ones like Nutella. We opted for the cookie sauce and never looked back.

The prices of the yoghurt at Llao Llao are on par with other frozen yogurt brands (Small size with one topping is B105, medium size with three toppings B125 and large size with three toppings is B140). Pricey, it may seem. But considering that the yogurt itself is all natural, made from skimmed milk, has to be imported from Europe and that it tastes pretty damn good, it's worth every baht and every calorie you think you need to burn off afterwards.

We hope to see more branches pop up soon but for now you can head to Platinum Fashion Mall, Petchaburi Road (accessible via skywalk from CentralWorld) to get your froyo fix. Llao Llao is open daily 9am-8pm.
