In the midst of Ekamai Shopping Mall, lies the quaint Moola Café. Catering to the early birds in the area, the café is open from 7.30am and specialises in all-day breakfast, homemade ice cream and unusual coffee and tea pairings.

Owner Supika Kamalanavin, a culinary school graduate, has created the menu, which largely caters to the Thai palate. One glance and I was intrigued by Bobie's coffee (B90 for hot, B105 for iced). An unusual pairing created by one of Supika's cooks, the drink is a café latte with marmalade. I decided to try it iced as it was a hot Bangkok morning. Despite the odd combination, it's refreshing and apparently quite popular in Korea.

If you're in the mood for a leisurely brekkie then the 10-min baked egg (B170), would be a good choice. And it does take 10 minutes. Served in a cast iron skillet, it is a mix of three baked eggs, cherry tomatoes, basil, spring onions, tomato sauce and a slice of toasted bread. Though the tomato sauce tasted run-of-the-mill, it would appeal to the Thai crowd. Though the bacon wasn't crisp, it was perfectly chewy and evenly cooked. I would have liked another piece of toast, however, as a single slice isn't enough to mop up three eggs and the trimmings.

Fear not health conscious folks, Moola Café caters to you, too! The Homemade yoghurt, museli with seasonal fruits (B185 with raspberry sauce, B145 with honey) will kick-start your morning. I recommend skipping the honey and getting the raspberry sauce. Slices of green apple, dragon fruit chunks and slices of peach complete your morning fruit intake.

I am a larb fan, so I got the Larb pork crepe (B185). The larb by itself was delish and had the right amount of spice and tang. The crepe was less desirable. It is a typical Thai-style crepe, which is more crispy and sweet, rather than soft and fluffy. Another dish for the Thai palate. To wash down the spicy minced pork, I ordered the PinkPresso (B95), which is an espresso on Thai pink milk (Hale's Blue Boy, anyone?). Despite its very IG look, the drink was a tad too sweet for my liking.

Moola Café's menu is vast for such a tiny space and even has pasta for the lunchtime crowd. To make it easier for today's gen, beside each food and drink menu listing is an IG logo for the dishes and drinks that are IG worthy. Besides their signature dishes and drinks, lies the Moola Café logo.

To make maximum use of its small space, Moola Café has converted the space above the kitchen to a mezzanine with a chabudai and cushions, and even your own dumbwaiter to trolley the food and drink up to you! The next pyjama party hangout can seat six to eight people.

Of course, for those adults who eat ice cream for breakfast, do not miss out on the homemade flavours, especially the Strawberry and balsamic vinegar. g
