When did Bangkok become so damn cool? Is the capital that's famous for its sleaze and grime finally cleaning up its act? Probably not quite yet, but Ari newcomer Fat Bird is encapsulating all things here and present with effortless ease after only a couple of months of operation, and it has had people chirping its praises ever since.
While the name avoids being politically incorrect, it is however personal (ask one of the owners). And although the style is a mash up of angles and influences, it seems to all fit nicely on the same page of the scrapbook, in a similar way the ensemble of owners do.
Each of the six proprietors has brought something to the collage, and they unsurprisingly straddle a range of professions - everything from baker to engineer to TV producer. Perhaps this is the secret to the charm of the place - it's a shared design toy, by its nature to be shared on again.
