Japan, France, USA, in that order, are the top three what? Absolutely right. Japan has 32 3-Michelin-star restaurants while France trails with 26 and the USA 12. 

What's more, a goodly number of Japan's gob-smacking 317 Michelin-decorated restaurants in primarily Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka are Japanese, putting the land of the rising sun in a league of its own when it comes to rivalling the gourmet world's entrenched Euro centricity.

Though not fatties, like some nations given to the pleasures of the table that shall remain nameless, the Japanese love and appreciate really good food. Heck, they even call their parliament the Diet!
