Disasters spark competition for education programmes

Recent natural disasters causing massive loss of life and devastating effects on communities in Southeast Asia and Japan have prompted a renewed focus on risk reduction education.
The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (Seameo) is running the Seameo-Japan Education for Sustainable Development Award, a competition which looks for the best education programmes in schools for disaster risk reduction.
The theme for this year's award is "Education for Disaster Risk Reduction".
