World-class jazz artists from America and Europe will be joining the Thailand International Jazz Conference (TIJC), which will take place at Mahidol University's College of Music, Salaya campus, from tomorrow until Sunday.

Held under the theme "Chill Out Around Jazz", the 11th edition of what is likely the centre and community of jazz will feature a mix of styles in evening performances by the top class of the world on all three days.

This year's highlights include two concerts by Russian jazz trumpeter Alex Sipiagin. He will perform with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday at 4pm and with his quintet on Sunday at 10pm.

The next highlight is a concert by the Omer Avital Quintet on Saturday at 10pm. Avital is an Israeli performer internationally acclaimed as a virtuoso bassist and as a transformational composer and musical thinker.

Also set to perform will be the Trionauts from Germany, notable for using innovative new sounds that always excite listeners. The band is comprised of progressive jazz musicians like Emanuel Hauptmann (drums), Tino Derado (piano, keyboard) and Björn Werra (bass). Another must-see is the Abdón Alcaraz Trio from Spain, which will bring a lot of joy from the crossover of jazz mixed with Spanish flamenco.

The impressive line-up also includes three local groups -- Polycat, an indie-pop group from Thailand that brings together jazz and electronic music from the 80s and blends it seamlessly; the Patcharapong Band, led by May Patcharapong; the best fusion jazz bassist in Thailand; and Bangkok Swing X Dixieology.

Tickets for the evening concerts cost 800 baht and can be purchased from Thai Ticket Major outlets (visit thaiticketmajor.com).
