To celebrate HM the King's 85th birthday anniversary, the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra presents a concert entitled "King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Birthday", which will feature the return of Italian guest conductor Alfonso Scarano, who will lead a selection of the King's favourite songs.

The concert will take place at Mahidol University's College of Music on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 4pm.

The programme also features Greek pianist Lambis Vassiliadis performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No.2 In F-Minor, Opus 21, as well as selections of popular film music.

One of the most distinguished Greek pianists, Vassiliadis represents a unique style of explosive pianism and artistic sensibility.

He has won 11 awards in international and national competitions and has appeared in numerous solo concerts and radio and television broadcasts in Greece, as well as in other countries including Germany, Poland, the US, South Africa, Thailand, Italy, England and France. Vassiliadis has also appeared with orchestras.

As an educator, Vassiliadis gives piano masterclasses at several European and American universities. He is currently assistant professor for piano at Ionian University in Corfu, Greece.
