Siam Center reopens

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Good news for local shopaholics and fashionistas. Siam Center, which closed its doors five months ago to undergo a major facelift, will be having its grand reopening tomorrow at 6pm, with more activities to mark the unveiling also scheduled for Friday evening.

Dubbed "Let the Legendary Party Begin", the event has been timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of what was one of Bangkok's first, and for a long time its hippest, shopping mall.

A bevy of well-known actors and celebrities from abroad have been recruited to grace the celebrations on both days.

Leading the line-up on Wednesday will be Adrien Brody, star of The Pianist, The Darjeerling Limited and Midnight In Paris. Sweet-faced South Korean actor Kim Sang-bum, from the Korean version of the Boys Over Flowers (F4) series, will also be on hand that day to delight local fans.

Scheduled to fly in from the US to take part in Friday's bash will be actors Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick from the teen drama TV series Gossip Girl. Also cruising by that day will be Dynamite singer Taio Cruz, who will be giving his first performance in Thailand.

Tomorrow's grand reopening is by invitation only, but everyone is welcome to rub shoulders with their favourite stars on Friday.
