American classical pianist Kathryn Woodard will give her debut Bangkok recital with a programme that explores cross-cultural exchange in music, at Goethe Institute Bangkok on March 18 at 8pm.

Presented by D&M Music Studio, the concert will feature a programme of Beethoven's Sonata In D-Major, Opus 28, Mendelssohn's Fantasie In F-Sharp Minor, Opus 28, Debussy's Three Etudes, Brahms' Piano Pieces, Opus 118, Janacek's In The Mist, and Saygun's Three Etudes On Aksak Rhythms.
The acclaimed pianist from Texas has recently performed in China, South Korea, Croatia, Germany and Turkey. In Kyrgyzstan she was the first pianist to perform the music of Henry Cowell, John Cage and Frederic Rzewski.
Woodard has also collaborated with institutions such as the Crow Collection of Asian Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Asia Society, Texas, and the Freer Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution to offer concerts in conjunction with art exhibitions, gallery openings and symposiums.
In 2005 she launched the Sonic Crossroads initiative to explore processes of musical exchange around the globe through concerts, residencies and recording projects. As an advocate for new music she has worked with several noted composers and prominent artists and has been featured on Performance Today, a classical music radio programme in the US and The Front Row on BBC Radio 4. Woodard approaches the study of piano music from a global perspective, and her research explores aspects of postmodern pianism.
