Alive and kicking: The Dodos play in Bangkok

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

The Dodos, an American indie rock band, will perform during the "Supersweet Live! Presents The Dodos Day Fest" on May 18 at Centerpoint Studio on Soi Lasalle.

The ‘Supersweet Live! Presents The Dodos Day Fest’ takes place on May 18.

Comprising only two members, Meric Long (vocals, guitar) and Logan Kroeber (percussion, drums) are said to create live shows that are spontaneous and intense to the masses, but personal to the individual.

From the rebellious folkish pop album Beware Of The Maniacs (2006) to the critically acclaimed Visiter (2008), to Time To Die (2009), and their most thoughtful, No Color (2011), the styles and influences The Dodos share with the audience have consistently evolved.

While the multi-layer sounds on loop with the rhythmic finger-picking guitar and quirky drumming will remain their signature, the festival's twin concept of electric and acoustic will best demonstrate their ability to create something refreshing, unique and a once-in-a-lifetime memory.

The festival will open with four indie acts. The audience will ballroom dance to Dok-Mai-Baan who will perform at 2.30pm, then sway with Before Champ at 3.20pm.

By sunset, they will bop their heads to Bear-Garden's drum-and-bass set at 7.30pm and twist to the Thai-Aussie band Basement Tape at 8.20pm. Then The Dodos will take the stage to present the energetic finale at 9.20pm.
