B-Floor returns with some Sense and (In) Sensitivity

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

When was the last time you sat down to talk about or simply embrace emotions like sorrow, anger or sadness? In mid-July, leading local contemporary theatre company B-Floor will be staging a "minimalist, interactive and experiential" piece called (In) Sensitivity, the latest work from dance-movement psychotherapist and artist Dujdao Vadhanapakorn Boonyai.

Contemporary theatre production (In) Sensitivity opens at the Pridi Banomyong Institute on July 18.

It is scheduled to open at the Pridi Banomyong Institute on Sukhumvit Soi 55 on July 18 with further performances on July 19, 20 and 21 and then a second run from July 23 to 30. The curtain goes up at 7.30pm.

Dujdao explained that the piece came about as a result of her observations, from the perspective of a psychotherapist, of interpersonal interactions in Thai society, "a society that presents itself as virtue-loving but bears many traces of emotional explosions that lead to tragedies, which seem to be happening more and more often. Is there something missing, perhaps?"

Dujdao is a core member of B-Floor Theatre with more than a decade of experience in the Bangkok contemporary theatre scene as an actress and director.

Apart from the contribution of Dujdao, who will be performing in as well directing the piece, (In) Sensitivity owes its existence to the collaboration of two other performers: Orn-anong Thaisriwong and Thanapol Virulhakul.

Orn-anong is a veteran actress who has won awards from the Bangkok Theatre Festival and the Theatre Critics Association of Thailand.

Thanapol is a professional dancer, performer and emerging director who was selected to receive a grant by the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts. A piece he directed last year, entitled Post Show Talk With Pina Bausch, earned fulsome praise from audiences and critics alike.

Tickets for (In) Sensitivity cost 450 baht. For reservations, call 089-167-4039 or email bfloortheatre@gmail.com.
