Raging sea of sound brings a fitting end

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra's eighth season is coming to a crashing end with the raging sea of sound that is Mahler's Fifth Symphony.

Pianist Evelyne Berezovsky performs at TPO’s Festival Finale today and tomorrow.

The TPO's Festival Finale will be held today at 7pm and tomorrow at 4pm at Music Auditorium, College of Music, at Mahidol University's Salaya campus.

Along with the Mahler masterpiece will be Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.1. Conductor Gudni Emilsson will lead TPO as it brings the season to a resounding close, echoing Mahler's description of the Fifth Symphony as a foaming, roaring, raging sea of sound. Also appearing will be Russian pianist Evelyne Berezovsky, who will perform the Rachmaninoff concerto.

Berezovsky began playing the piano at the age of five. She has performed with orchestra bands worldwide. Last year, she won first place in the Lagny-sur-Marne Piano Competition in France. She also won the Audience Prize, the Mayor's Prize and the Paris Conservatoire Prize. As a result, she has been invited to give concerts in France and broadcast for Radio France. Future performances also include concerts in Britain, Belgium, Russia and Japan.

Tickets are priced at 300 baht and 500 baht, and 100 baht for students.
