The history of Thai politics will be reflected from the memories of people in this social media era through the theatre of multimedia for the first time starting Oct 12.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Oct 14, 1973 uprising, Thammasat University's Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts presents The Remains, a new play that explores and questions audiences about their knowledge of and mindset towards what has happened to Thai politics.
It will be staged at the Pridi Banomyong Institute, Sukhumvit Soi 55, at 8pm during Oct 12-14.
This is an experimental piece that combines non-verbal language through physical theatre, with presentations of storytelling through discourse and dialogue, as well as set and lighting design, and digital visualisation.
It presents a picture of the history of Thai politics through the eyes of Thai people who may have confused fact and fiction. They may look at what happened through the memories of the people around them, and through the media and the education system.
The Remains is directed by Theera Mulvilai, aka Kage, an outstanding dramatist from B-Floor Theatre who is known for his work in physical theatre and viewpoint technique.
