Five years after his debut performance in the Kingdom, the young Russian piano virtuoso, Andrey Gugnin, will make a comeback to play two solo programmes in Pattaya early next month.

Sensational Russian pianist Andrey Gugnin will give two solo concerts on March 1 and 4.

The first, an all-Russian composer programme, will be performed in the Parkview Conference Hall at the Siam Bayshore Hotel, South Pattaya of Chon Buri on March 1 at 7pm.

It will start with Rachmaninoff’s 13 Preludes, Opus 32. The second half of the programme features the original piano version of Mussorgsky’s Pictures At An Exhibition. It will be followed by a toccata by Prokofiev.

Andrey will be playing on a 2m conservatory model grand piano supplied especially for this event by Siam Music Yamaha.

The second concert will be a recital of four famous Beethoven sonatas — Moonlight, Pathetique, Appassionata and Waldstein. It will take place on March 4 at 6pm at the Music Room at Eelswamp in Nongplalai sub-district, just outside Pattaya.

Andrey impressed the Bangkok audience with Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto he performed in 2008 when he was 21 years old. He has since graduated and has played in 15 countries around the world.

He’s reputed for technical mastery, sensitivity and brilliant interpretive quality; and performs regularly in Moscow. He is also a recognised Beethoven specialist. Among his many awards, he won the second place at the 14th International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna last year.
